Posted by worldorphanrelief on September 19, 2011

Join us at the 26th International Festival of Raleigh!

We will be attending the upcoming International Festival in Raleigh this September 30 through October 2, 2011.  Sarah and I will be manning a booth in the non-profit section and will be happy to answer all of your questions about our work.  We were hoping to have some bracelets and/or t-shirts available for sale to raise donations, but visitors will need to settle for brochures and a smile.  Regardless, we look forward to meeting you!

The entrance fee will be $5 on Friday, and $7 on Saturday and Sunday.  Advance purchase of tickets will save you a few dollars, so keep that in mind.  For more about the festival, please visit their website:  http://www.internationalfestival.org

Address:

Raleigh Convention Center

Joanna LiVecchi

We wish to thank Joanna LiVecchi for taking the time to travel to NC and meet with key members of The Fishermen in order to discuss critical issues regarding upcoming events.  On the agenda of our latest meeting held on August 29, 2011, were the following issues:

1)  our participation in this year’s NC International Festival,

2)  creating a direct link between our organization, the CMMB, and the Mary Herbert Batt Clinic in Kinshasa, Democratic of Congo,

3)  a half-marathon donation drive for later this year,

4)  medical assistance to orphanages in Afghanistan,

5)  details of our mission trip to Kyrgyzstan in 2012, and

6)  coordinating with the UNRWA and the Order of Saint John to assist Palestinian children.

Joanna’s participation has been vital in the creation of a dental hygiene program for children in remote mission areas including the DRC and Afghanistan.  Joanna is also in the process of expanding our website database to include useful information on oral health, nutrition, Down Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  Thank you very much, Joanna!

Thank you, Rosenblum Family!

Posted by worldorphanrelief on September 15, 2011

We’d like to say “thank you” to Ann Rosenblum and her family for conducting a community donation drive to collect medical supplies for our organization.  Through their effort we now have enough material to provide assistance to many children in new mission areas in Central Asia and Africa.

Private initiatives such as the one engaged by the Rosenblum family keep the heart of our organization pumping.  We welcome assistance of any sort and encourage impromptu donation drives – the children can use whatever you are able to collect!

Thanks again for your time and generosity, Rosenblums!
